Novotechnik offers a wide range of non-contacting and potentiometric position sensors. Of the non-contacting position sensors, the FTI 10 Series of short stroke spring return sensors provides 10 mm stroke length, linearity up to 0.1%, and resolution better than 0.01 mm. The TLM Series magnetic marker offers linearity up to 50 mm and resolution up to 2 mm.

Spectec offers a variety of magnetic speed sensors and Hall Effect position sensors. The Hall effect gear position sensors are dual output configurations that detect the direction and position of a target gear. They are also used for rotation profiling, angle profiling and field profiling.

Balluff offers a wide range of sensors for distance and position measurement, including a linear position transducer which offers absolute position feedback, with stroke lengths from 2" to 200". Inductive distance sensors provide analog output for short range distance measurement of metal targets, while photoelectric distance sensors provide analog output for short and long range measurement of targets, regardless of material. The company also manufactures magneto-inductive sensors and ultrasonic sensors.

Baumer offers a wide variety of sensors for different applications. Its non-contact inductive proximity sensors detect metal to ensure the movement and position of machine parts, valves, and gears, and its photoelectric sensors can measure objects several meters away, with an accuracy of a tenth of a millimeter. The ultrasonic sensor measures up to 2.5 m away, and features a high resolution of 0.3 mm. Dynamation Transducers Corporation produces an array of single-turn and linear motion transducers. Options on the single-turn side include the SF Precision Rotative Transducer, which comes in sizes 08 to 30 with a linearity between +/-1% down to +/-0.015%, and the 116-200 BFZ-SFZ, which offers continuous measure on 360 degrees and conformity from +/-1% to +/-0.35%. The linear transducers start with the 38 L, which is designed for precise measures of short travels (12.5 mm to 150 mm). The long travel option is the 139 L, which is side-actuated and provides a measurement range of 25 mm to 6000 mm.

Measurement Specialties offers a broad range of position sensors, including rotary displacement sensors, tilt sensors (inclinometers), linear displacement sensors, magnetic encoders, and liquid level transducers. The AC and DC rotary sensors can measure position up to +/-60 degrees, and the company's tilt sensors come in both single and dual axis. Of the linear displacement sensors, the 0.375" diameter MHR Series has the shortest range (+/-0.005" to +/-2.0"_, while the 0.812" diameter XS-D Series has the longest (+/-1" to +/-10").

There are three series of linear potentiometers, including the MLP (0.5- to 6-inch full stroke range, 0.5% linearity), CLP (1- to 11.5-inch full stroke range, 0.1-0.2% linearity), and CLWG (3- to 30-inch full stroke range, 0.04%-0.1% linearity). Penny and Giles produces a wide range of linear position sensors, linear displacement transducers, and linear potentiometers that offer stroke length measurements from 0.2" to 196", using potentiometric, inductive, eddy current, and Hall Effect technology. They also offer rotary position sensors to provide angle measurements from 10 to 360 degrees, with environmental protection to IP68 and IP69K.

Transducers Direct features five types of linear position transducers. The TD390 has a 6" to 56" stroke, and is typically used for injection molding machinery; it also comes in a 1" to 6" model (TD390S) that provides 0.3% linearity and IP65 shaft seal. The low cost options are the TD590 (50 mm to 1,000 mm stroke) and TD580M (100 mm to 1,000 mm stroke). The compact model is the TD592; it has a 10 mm to 50 mm stroke, spring return, and independent linearity up to +/-0.1%.

UniMeasure manufactures both linear position and rotary position transducers. First, the Standard Series consists of cable extension linear position and linear velocity transducers in a NEMA 1 (IP40) housing. The ZX-PA Series analog position transducer has dimensions of 0.73" x 0.73" x 0.375" with a total measurement range of 1.5". Next, the LX Series is the company's compact linear position transducer, and comes in 11 different measurement ranges. The JX Series is environmentally sealed, and comes in 13 measurement ranges. The technology is immune to EMI and RFI, and provides full functionality in temperatures above 100 degrees Celsius. The FOD linear position and displacement sensor is housed in aluminum or composite material, and offers a resolution up to 0.002 mm, 20 mm linear stroke, and accuracy +/-0.02 mm.

Variohm EuroSensor supplies a wide range of position sensors. The Variohm Hall Effect Rotary Sensor can withstand temperatures up to 125 degrees Celsius, and is sealed to IP65 with an option to IP67; angles are also programmable up to 360 degrees. Other non-contacting rotary position sensors are available with different programmable angles and outputs. The company also offers an array of linear position sensors and transducers with stroke lengths as short as 10 mm and as long as 50 meters, as well as non-contacting linear position sensors in various housing options, sealed to IP68, with a 4,500 mm stroke length maximum.
